Jr. Knights Prepare For
Season Ending Tournaments.
Scranton, PA. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Jr. Knights youth hockey teams are preparing for their season finally to the 2007-2008 season. This year the organizations teams will be spread out over three tournaments and two cities. Five of the teams will play at the Gene Harrington Invitational Falls Classic in Niagara Falls N.Y. the weekend of March 7th thru the 9th. On the schedule will be the Mites, Squirt White, Squirt Blue, Pee Wee White and Pee Wee Blue. The Gene Harrington Falls Classic has been running since 1971 and promises to be a competitive and fun tournament.
Pittsburgh Pennsylvania will be the destination for the remaining teams, starting with the following weekend, four of them will vie for the Steel City Cup put on by Advanced Tournaments. The Squirt Silver, Pee Wee Silver, Bantam Silver and Bantam Blue will take their crack at the competition March 14th to the 16th. And finally, March 28th, 29th and 30th will be the last of the 2007-08 season as the Bantam White and the Midget u-16 take their trek to Pittsburgh for the Pittsburgh Amateur Penguins Year-End Tournament. The end will mark the completion of the inaugural season for the Jr. Knights, and a very successful season at that. OTTAWA,ON – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Jr Knights organization traveled across the northern border and played in the 9th annual Bell Capital Cup this past week, showing the world that youth hockey is alive and well in northeastern Pa. This year the Bell Capital Cup, officially the largest hockey tournament in the world, hosted over 470 teams from eight different countries. The Jr. Knights had representation in two divisions, the peewee major A and the atom (squirt) major AA, both divisions boasting stiff competition.
